We are a five vet horse practice, with 24 emergency cover, on the Surrey/West Sussex border in the south east of England.
Ben Mayes and Judy Scrine have continued to develop the clinic since the retirement of Colin Bond and the relocation of the clinic to Dawes Farm in 2003. Situated behind Northlands Business Park on the A29, two miles south of Ockley, the new clinic boasts digital x-ray, ultrasound, videoendoscopy, stables and a manege with hard and soft trotting surfaces for lameness investigations and vettings. The facilities also include an operating theatre for surgery and stocks for breeding and stud work such as chilled and frozen AI (artificial insemination). The stocks can also be used for powered dentistry.
The Directors, Ben and Judy, are ably assisted by experienced vets, Anna Hammond, Anna Etherton and Will McFadzean. Anna Hammond rejoined the Practice after a period of absence in 2008, and is our in-house medicine expert. Anna Etherton, who graduated in 2009 from the Royal Veterinary College, a popular member of the veterinary team, recently returned from maternity leave. Will is our most recent recruit. He graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2010, then worked as an intern at Valley Equine Hospital in Lambourn and has become our main anaesthetist as we continue to expand the surgical facilities. Please visit the ‘Meet the Team’ page for an update on the whole team at Mayes and Scrine.
The vets spend over half their time on the road. The practice area includes Epsom, Leatherhead, Reigate, Tadworth, Cobham, Chobham, Esher, Guildford and Woking to the north; Dorking, Cranleigh, Horsham, Crawley and Horley in the middle; and Billingshurst, Petworth, Pulborough and Henfield in the south.
